Vacation - St. Simons Island, GA
06.26.2004 - 07.03.2004

Wow, what a week! Family vacation with the Jolly's (i.e. - my side of the family). As all good things go, this week seemed to fly by. Nonetheless, Hilary and I had a chance to relax on the beach, catch some waves, chill in the pool and have fun with the family.

My family goes on this week-long trip each summer, and it is graciously provided by my grandfather on my dad's side. In the past 2 or 3 years, I've been busy, so I've only been able to go a few days of the week and then return. Not that I'm complaining about ONLY a couple days at the beach (some get none...), but man, a week is just a horse of a different color.

We celebrated my nephew Alexander's birthday, as well as my sister-in-law Heather's birthday. We launched a 7 foot water rocket from the beach (one of Alexander's gifts from Uncle Ryan), I flew my stunt kite in the evenings, and watched storms coming out over the ocean. Also, we ate a TON OF FOOD. My mom knows how to cook for a crowd, and seeing as how there were at least 15 people at every meal, it was quite a crowd.

We also went out for lunch/dinner to a couple places while we were down there, and checked out some local shops at the St. Simons Village/Pier. It was all in all a great place to be in some great weather, with the kind of fellowship that only family can provide.

Hilary and I enjoying the view from the condo. Alexander and Heather celebrated their birthdays during our stay. Gwam doing what he does best - SLEEP.

Dinner at Frederica House! (L-R: Alexander, Heather, Ryan, Sheri, Hilary) Dinner at Frederica House! (L-R: Michael, Heather, Big Pop, Dad, Elizabeth, Mom) Hilary and I enjoying our meal at Frederica House.

I was more than glad to take a week off at St. Simons! Just like me, Hilary was all excited to be vacationing at the beach! Flying the stunt kite during sunset.

Getting the stunt kite ready to launch! Michael and Heather with the birthday cake: Ha-PEE BIRFDAY HEDURR Gwam testing out the single-person application of one of his new WATER BALLOON LAUNCHERS!

A super-scary (but cool-looking) storm that passed over us like a giant blanket. Scary (but cool). Seriously. Is this not scary looking? The clouds are black! And churning! Looks like a giant death-face staring out of the sky! Whoa! Amazingly, as scary as it looks, there wasn't a lot of actual storming until it went off the coast. Watched some cool lightening from our porch later on.

Scary, yes, but great photo moment with my wife. Alexander got some neat-o golf clubs from his Aunt Hil and Uncle Christian. Fore! (Watch yer teeth, kiddos!)

If you look closely, you can see a bunch of shoes hanging from the trees. Very weird. Alexander got this GIANT 7 foot water rocket from his Uncle Ryan and Aunt Sheri. A Spongebob Squarepants sand sculpture that I created on the beach.
