Honeymoon - Negril, Jamaica
06.22.2003 - 06.27.2003
This is the first time I've ever left the United States, and the second time for Hilary. We thought long and hard about where to go for the honeymoon, and we kept coming back to Jamaica. We've both always had a bit of a fascination with the Carribbean. It's a popular place for honeymooners, and it's a beautiful country. We flew on Air Jamaica with dozens of other newlyweds, had a pretty good in-flight meal (on the way down and the return!) and had a good time trying to figure out what name for Hilary to put on the duty papers. Word to the wise - Air Jamaica staff is as laid back as everyone else in Jamaica. The flights are apparently always a bit delayed, and they're all "no problem, relax mon, we be goin' to Jamaica..." We spent 6 days and 5 nights there (should've stayed ONE MORE NIGHT) and we enjoyed all of it. There were tons of crazy locals trying to sell us whatever it was they had created - art, craft, boat ride...marijuana. We had a luxurious room with a balcony overlooking the sea. The food along the seaside was great (especially the pumpkin soups...awesome). We spent most of our time lounging or walking on the beach or swimming out in the sea, and hanging by the bar and having these really awesome frozen mixed fruit things. |
